I teach clients to get unhooked from emotions in order to behave in a way that is aligned with values, using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (an evidenced-based approach that blends CBT and mindfulness). Grounded in the belief that emotions are not a problem, we will explore your reactions to emotions that cause unnecessary suffering. I help clients clarify their values and identify larger life goals or passions, so they can prioritize what really matters. I teach clients acceptance for emotions through mindfulness and thought defusion techniques. Together we will make a plan to master those difficult moments so you can be in control of your behavior.

  • In sessions we will welcome anxiety and find strategies to reduce its intensity and its impact on your life. We will notice triggers for anxiety and question what purpose (if any) it serves. We will use unhooking strategies to regain control and make decisions aligned with your values.

  • At the beginning, we will meet weekly. This gives us a chance to really understand how anxiety is controlling you. We will identify the best most effective way to get unstuck. We can move to every other week when you are ready and if you feel the progress is maintained.

  • You are not alone. I will help you identify what you care about and how to handle conflicting values. We will create a list of chosen values (rather than “should” values) in order to live the life you really want.
